We are the controller for the personal data described below, as defined in Art. 4(7) GDPR.
Visiting this site
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. Their servers record standard access data such as your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request, the referring page and your browser type. This happens for every website you visit and is needed to deliver the page and to keep the service secure. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in operating a stable, secure site. These logs are held by Vercel for a short period and are not used by us to identify individual visitors.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It sets no cookies, stores no identifiers on your device and does not follow you across other websites. We see aggregate numbers, not people. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Fonts
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, operated by Google Ireland Limited. Loading them transmits your IP address to Google. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, presenting the site as intended. If you would rather this did not happen, a content blocker that blocks fonts.googleapis.com will stop it and the site still works.
Buying an app
Payments run through PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A. We never see or store your card or bank details. PayPal processes the payment under its own privacy policy and passes us the transaction confirmation, which includes your name, your email address and what you bought. We use that to deliver the licence, answer support requests and satisfy tax law. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for the contract and Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR for the retention duties.
You do not create an account with us. There is no OptiTools login, and downloads are not tied to a profile.
Writing to us
If you use the contact form, your mail app sends the message from your own address to info@optitools.org. The form stores nothing on this site and sends nothing anywhere on its own. We keep the correspondence for as long as it takes to deal with your request, then only where the law requires it. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
The apps themselves
OptiMac, OptiSound, OptiLoad and OptiTube run on your Mac. Where an app shows you a third-party service that you sign into, for example YouTube or Twitch in OptiTube, that session is between you and that provider under their privacy policy. We are not part of it and receive nothing from it.
How long we keep things
- Purchase and invoice records: up to 10 years, as required by German tax and commercial law (§ 147 AO, § 257 HGB).
- Support correspondence: as long as needed to resolve the matter, and up to 6 years where it counts as commercial correspondence.
- Server logs and analytics: short-term, as set by our hosting provider.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to your data (Art. 15), correction (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), portability (Art. 20), and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Write to info@optitools.org and we will deal with it.
You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. Ours is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 27, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal data, we do not run advertising networks, we do not profile you and we make no automated decisions about you under Art. 22 GDPR.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Continued use of the site after that means the current version applies.
