Is it really free?
Yes. OptiDark is a free download, and OptiMac for Intel and OptiTranslate are open source under GPL-3.0. No licence keys, no accounts, no catches.
Does OptiMac (the paid app) run on Intel Macs?
No. The paid OptiMac is written for Apple Silicon only. Intel Macs are served by the free OptiMac Intel CLI here, which gives aging hardware the same level of optimisation.
What does the deep clean do?
optimac --deep-clean scans caches, logs and leftovers and reports what is reclaimable, 4.2 GB across 1,318 files in the example run, before removing anything.
What does maintenance do?
optimac --maintenance runs the macOS periodic scripts and refreshes the dyld cache and Spotlight index, restoring factory-fresh behaviour on an aging machine in well under a minute.
Why a command-line tool rather than an app?
Zero GUI overhead. On an aging Intel Mac, a heavyweight Electron cleaner consumes RAM simply to draw its own interface and makes the machine slower still. A CLI does not.
What is OptiTranslate for iOS?
A Safari userscript for iPhone and iPad. It detects foreign-language pages and offers to translate them on the spot.
Which translation engines can it use?
Google, Yandex or Bing, your choice, so you can pick whichever gives the better result for a given language.
Does any of this track me?
No tracking and no telemetry in any of them. OptiDark makes no network requests at all. That is a large part of why they exist.
