Discord has no built-in translator. OptiCord, a native Mac app for your Discord account, translates your chats in both directions and puts translated captions into your screen share on calls. The people you talk to stay on the regular Discord app.

How to translate Discord on a Mac.

Join the beta.
Request access to OptiCord, then sign in with the Discord account you already have. Your servers and friends come with you.

Open a conversation.
Pick the chat you want to have in another language.

Turn on OptiTranslate.
Their messages arrive in your language, and your replies go out in theirs.

Share your screen on a call.
OptiTranslate captions what you say, translates it as you talk and places it in your share, so everyone watching in Discord can read along.

Does Discord have a built-in translator?
No. Discord's own app has no translation. OptiCord adds OptiTranslate for chats and calls.
Do the people I talk to need OptiCord?
No. They stay on the regular Discord app. Your replies reach them in their language, and on calls they read the translation in your screen share.
Can it translate what I say on a call?
Yes. OptiTranslate captions what you say, translates it while you talk and places it in your screen share, so anyone watching in Discord can read along.
Do I need a bot or a browser extension?
No. Translation is part of the app, so there's no bot to add to a server and nothing to install in a browser.
Does it run on Windows, iPhone or an Intel Mac?
No. OptiCord is a Mac app for Apple Silicon, on macOS 15 or later.
How do I get OptiCord?
OptiCord is in beta. Press Join The Beta, tell us about your Mac, and we'll reply by email about access.
